Common Issues

Quick solutions to the most frequently encountered problems in Menu Studio.

Menu Not Updating

Symptoms: Changes you make don't appear on the published menu.

Solutions:

  1. Make sure you clicked Publish after making changes
  2. Clear your browser cache (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R)
  3. If using a CDN, allow a few minutes for propagation
  4. Check if the menu has scheduling that prevents visibility

Images Not Loading

Symptoms: Images show as broken or don't appear.

Solutions:

  1. Check image file size (max 10 MB)
  2. Ensure image format is supported (JPG, PNG, WebP)
  3. Try re-uploading the image
  4. Check your internet connection

Tip

For best results, use JPG for photos and PNG for graphics with transparency.

Can't Access Restaurant

Symptoms: You see "Access Denied" when trying to view a restaurant.

Solutions:

  1. Verify you're logged into the correct account
  2. Check if your invitation has expired
  3. Ask the restaurant owner to verify your access
  4. Contact support if you're the owner and can't access

Slow Performance

Symptoms: Pages load slowly or editor feels sluggish.

Solutions:

  1. Close other browser tabs
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Reduce image sizes in your menus
  5. Disable browser extensions temporarily

Export Failing

Symptoms: PDF or image export doesn't complete.

Solutions:

  1. Try a smaller page size
  2. Reduce the number of items in the export
  3. Check your internet connection
  4. Clear browser cache and try again

QR Code Not Scanning

Symptoms: QR codes don't work when scanned.

Solutions:

  1. Ensure sufficient contrast (dark code on light background)
  2. Print at minimum 1" × 1" size
  3. Test with multiple QR scanner apps
  4. Regenerate the QR code

Can't Delete Items

Symptoms: Delete button doesn't work or shows error.

Solutions:

  1. Check if the item is used in any menus (remove first)
  2. Verify you have Admin or Editor role
  3. Refresh the page and try again

Warning

Items used in published menus cannot be deleted until removed from those menus.
